We made this video because many of you asked us: „Can I Replace Manual Air Conditioning into Automatic Climate Control?” on VW Golf Mk4, Bora, Jetta or other similar models. So for that, we show you the differences between the Climatronic System and the Manual Air Conditioning System by presenting the AC Heater Box (HVAC) from a VW Golf Mk4 with Manual Air Conditioning and another one with Climatronic System.
You can find this type of HVAC box on Skoda Octavia 1, Seat Leon and Audi A3 from 1998 to 2004.
If you flip it on the other side, you can see the differences between those two HVAC boxes. The one with AC manual has some cables and the one with Climatronic has two positioning motors wich are V68 purple and V70 green. V70 is for windshield defrost and the V68 is for center air vents. Also the cables are different between those two AC units.
You must know from the start that this transition from Manual Air Conditioning to Climatronic requires to replace several elements on the car, starting with the Air Conditioning Heater Box (HVAC), new interior temperature sensors, Climatronic panel, a new blower motor resistor, air flow flap positioning motors, wires for the climatronic system and many others.
So, in addition to the rather expensive labor (if don’t do it yourself at home), it will also cost you the used parts that you will buy it because are cheaper. And even so, the cost to change the Manual Air Conditioning with Climatronic is not worth it because the car might be worth less than the cost of such an operation.
