First, make sure you have space in front of the gear shift. Then…
STEP 1: use 2 or 4 fingers to pull the shift gaitor boot (leather) out
STEP 2: lift the leather boot up over the knob to expose the clamp holding the knob on
STEP 3: use a small flat blade screwdriver to loose the clamp
STEP 4: pull the knob up and off the shaft
STEP 5: lift the leather boot up over the knob and remove the plastic with a flate blade screwdriver
Put the flat blade screwdriver into one of those two gaps and push that out
Installation is the reverse of removal.
