To maintain optimal engine performance and longevity, it is essential to follow the manufacturer’s recommended oil service intervals. On Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205, E-Class W212, A-Class W176, GLC, X-Class, G-Class, GLS, GLE, GLA, CLS, CLA, AMG GT, SL, S-Class W222 (2014-2020), one of the most important maintenance operations is to reset the oil service light  after every oil change. Here are the essential steps to perform this procedure:

Why is it important to reset the oil service light?

After changing the oil and oil filter, the vehicle’s diagnostic system must be updated to recognize that the service has been performed. This ensures that the oil service indicator will no longer display the alert message and that you will be correctly informed about the next oil change interval.

Steps to reset the oil service light on Mercedes-Benz C-Class W205, E-Class W212, A-Class W176, GLC, X-Class, G-Class, GLS, GLE, GLA, CLS, CLA, AMG GT, SL, S-Class W222 (2014-2020):

1. Press the Engine Start Stop button once (or turn the key to the first position). Make sure you have the image with the mileage and trip on display, if not, go to the main menu and select Trip using arrows and OK button

2. Press the “Call” and “OK” buttons at the same time and hold both buttons until you enter the menu

3. Select “ASSYST PLUS” by pressing the OK button

4. Press the Start Stop Engine button again or turn the key to position 2 (you should have the warning lights on the dashboard, but do not start the engine)

5. Select “Full service”

6. Select “Confirm service”

7. Here you can select any of the “Oil grade…” by pressing the OK button

8. When you see the question “Service carried out?”, select “Yes”

9. Then select “Confirm” to see the message “Full service completed”.

To make sure that the oil service reset was done correctly, you can check by going to Service menu, then go to ASSYST PLUS and you will see that the next oil reset must be done after 365 days or 1 year.

You can also check by turning the ignition on again to see if you still have the message “Service in… days” on the dashboard display.

Make sure that the oil change was carried out correctly and by an authorized specialist.

Always use the oil recommended by Mercedes-Benz for the specific car model.

If you are unsure of the steps or if the indicator does not reset, consult your car manual or call an authorized service.

By following these steps, you will ensure that your Mercedes-Benz  vehicle is operating in the best conditions and will be ready for the next maintenance.
