Location and removal of the electric parking brake (EPB) module Volkswagen Touareg 7P, Porsche Cayenne (2011-2017) IN 8 EASY STEPS

The electric parking brake module or EPB module is an essential component for the safety and comfort of the vehicle. For VW Volkswagen Touareg 7P and Porsche Cayenne models manufactured between 2011 and 2017, this component has a specific location and requires a specific procedure for removal.

The electronic parking brake module (EPB) is located in the trunk on the right side, behind the upholstery. On VW Volkswagen Touareg 7P and Porsche Cayenne, it is strategically mounted to be accessible for service, but also protected from external factors.

When the electric parking brake module is faulty, you may have the following errors after you have made the car diagnostics:

  • C10E2-01 – Control Module for Electronic Parking Brake: Electrical Failure
  • C10E3-29 – Signal Implausible Intermittent.

Required tools:

Steps to remove the electric parking brake module:

1. Remove the screw on the rear right pillar trim with a T25 Torx.

2. Remove the outer trim and remove the trim from the clips using a trim removal tool.

3. Remove the clip on the pillar using a special tool for removing clips.

4. Remove those anchor points in the trunk using a T30 Torx. Then remove that part.

5. Remove the stainless steel protection on the trunk lip from the clips using a trim removal tool. 

This is what it looks like on the other side, it is only held in the clips.

6. Disconnect all the plugs from the switches and trunk lamp.

7. Move those two plastic clips aside to remove the parking brake module outside.

8. Disconnect the plug by pulling the right clip outwards.

 

Recommendations:

It is advisable to follow the vehicle’s technical manual for exact specifications regarding screws and brackets.

If you do not have experience in automotive electrical work, call an authorized specialist for disassembly and replacement.

After completing the repair or replacement, make sure that all cables and brackets are securely fastened.
