TUTORIAL: How to disassemble (replace) DSG Gear Knob on VW Passat B7, B8, CC, Tiguan, Touran, Golf Mk6, Mk7, GTI, Skoda Octavia MK3, Seat Leon, etc. in 4 easy steps
If you have a worn DSG Gear Knob on your VW Passat B7, B8, CC, Tiguan, Touran, Golf Mk6, Mk7, GTI, Skoda Octavia MK3, Seat Leon, and you want to replace it, here is a video on how to do that in four easy steps.
You don’t need the remove the gear knob from the car to disassemble the DSG knob, you can do it more easily if it’s on the car.

Required tools:
– 3 flat blade and thin screwdrivers: https://amzn.to/3Q8WUYA
– trim tool: https://amzn.to/3uy4FMd
1. Remove the DSG plastic part using a trim tool
2. Remove those two side covers from the knob using 2-3 flat blade screwdrivers
The DSG gear knob covers are fitted in 4 plastic clamps that you can use 3 flat blade screwdrivers to separate cover from the gear shift.
If you can already see both side covers has clamps in symmetric position.
3. When you have the new covers, you just have to install it back on the knob
4. Instal the DSG plastic part back on the knob.
