TUTORIAL: How to manually release & unlock gear selector (in case of drained battery, defective fuse) on Mercedes-Benz C-Class W204 in 3 simple steps

In case of dead battery, interruption of the power supply (defective fuse), also the selector lever is lock and you can not shift the gear selector from the position P in the N position or D (Drive) and you want to move the car anyway, this is what you can do. First you have to unlock the gear selector in case of emergency. So…

 

1. Remove the gear shift gaiter pressing on both sides to lift it up
Press the brake pedal
2. Press on the yellow part and keep pressing until you shift the gear selector from the P position in the N (Neutral) position
3. After you finished to move the car, you can put the gear selector back in P position and install the cover back.
