Many of VW Tiguan 2008-2017 owners are reporting that they have a problem with cigarette lighter or front and rear 12V outlet. This problem usually occurs from a blown fuse. This short video tutorial explains what you can do to fix this problem in just four simple steps.

We will use an USB car charger to check if the cigarette lighter is working. If there is no red light on so the cigarette lighter probably it’s because it doesn’t work. We tried on the 12V outlet from the back and it doesn’t work also.

1. Open the storage compartment from the left side of the steering wheel
2. Press both sides of the storage compartment to pushing it down
You can take it out to have acces at the fuse and relay box.
3. Replace the 20V fuse from the 31 position (or 54 position) with a new one with the same voltage
Make sure you replace it with the one that has the same voltage (20V) as the blown fuse!
If you notice that the fuse blow very quickly after you have replaced it, then the electrical installation must be checked! Go to a specialized car service asap.
4. Install the storage compartment back and close it.
