How to check engine oil level in Nissan Qashqai J11, Juke, X-Trail, Dacia Logan, Duster, Lodge, Jogger, Sandero, Stepway, Renault Megane, Kadjar, Captur, Clio, 1.5 and 1.6 Diesel in 4 easy steps.

Checking the engine oil level is a simple operation, essential for the health of your car’s engine. The procedure below applies to most gasoline and diesel engines used in Nissan Qashqai J11 (2013–2022), but consult your car’s manual for specifics.

1. Park on a level surface and turn off the engine. Wait 5–10 minutes to allow the oil to drain into the oil pan.

2. Open the hood and locate the oil dipstick. On Nissan Qashqai J11 it is usually with a yellow cap.

3. Remove the dipstick, wipe it completely of oil with a clean cloth or paper napkin. Here you can see the Minimum and Maximum oil level marks.

The oil should be between the MIN and MAX marks or between the two marks. If it is below the Minimum, it must be topped up; if it is close to the Maximum, you do not need to top up. Ideally, the oil level should be up to the red line (i.e. 3 quarters).

4. Insert the dipstick back into the engine completely, then remove it again and read the oil level.

Also note the appearance of the oil: clear, dark brown oil is normal; very black oil, with metallic particles or a fuel smell may indicate a problem – check with a car service.

Use the type of oil recommended in the manual (e.g.: 5W-30, 0W-30, etc. according to the engine and year). Do not fill above the Maximum – excess oil can damage the engine.

Check regularly: at every refueling or at least once a month. If you notice a rapid drop in the level between checks, look for leaks or abnormal consumption and have the car serviced. For turbo or diesel engines, follow the service intervals and check the oil filter.

If you have recently changed the oil, check after a few hundred kilometers for adjustment.
