Tools and other parts required:

Before you start, make sure you have parked the car on a flat and stable ground. Apply wheel chocks, if you have one.

You have to renew both sets of rear brake pads at the same time – on the right and left side!

  1. First loosen the wheel nuts using a 17 mm socket.
  2. Using a jack, raise the rear of the car and make sure it is stable. (You can place jack stands under the body to prevent any risk).
  3. Unscrew all the bolts on the wheel and take it out. Carefully remove the wheel and place it under the car. Before replacing the pads, check if the brake discs are worn, cracked or deformed. If they are damaged, you must replace them before changing the brake pads.
  4. Use a 13 mm and a 17 mm wrench to remove the two bolts from the caliper bracket. Instead of using 13 mm wrench, you can use a T45 Torx.
  5. Remove the brake caliper and disconnect its connector using a flat blade screwdriver.
  6. Use a T30 Torx to remove the two bolts from the caliper motor.
  7. Remove the caliper motor.
  8. Remove the old brake pads. This is what the new rear brake pads for the Nissan Qashqai J11 looks like, which you can find them below at the link in the video description!
  9. You can use a flat blade screwdriver to clean any rust or dirt that has collected on the caliper bracket where the pads were mounted. Be sure to mount the brake pad with a wear sensor on the inside of the brake disc!
  10. Grease the sides of the brake pads with a high-temperature grease and then mount them on the caliper bracket. Find the high-temperature grease for brake pads below in the video description!

You can also remove those slider pins to grease them with grease.

11. Remove the brake fluid tank cover locate it in the engine compartment.

12. Use a brake piston pusher tool and a T45 Torx (or a 7 mm Allen key) to push the brake piston back. You can find the brake piston pusher tool below in the video description! Rotate the wrench clockwise to push the brake piston back.

13. Reinstall the brake caliper motor and the two screws back.

14. Reinstall the brake caliper on the bracket and then the two bolts  (tighten them to a value of 35 Nm), connect the plug and put the wheel back in place (tighten the bolts to a value of 113 Nm).

Don’t forget to pump the brake pedal several times after replacing brake pads to push the caliper pistons back against the new, thicker pads!

You have to renew both sets of rear brake pads at the same time – on the right and left side!
