1. Lift the car on a lift or jack and remove the engine splash shield using a 10 mm socket and a clip removal tool.
2. Remove the oil drain plug using drain plug wrench and let all the oil drain into an oil drain pan.
3. Remove the oil filter using an oil filter wrench.
4. Remove the old filter from the plastic holder and replace the old o-ring with the new one from the new oil filter package.
5. Install the new oil filter in the holder and then secure it to the engine and tighten it to 25 Nm torque value.
Use an oil cleaning to remove the oil drained on the car parts. We used the one from Krottendorf.
It is recommended that when you replace the oil filter you have to replace also the oil drain plug and the gasket.
6. Install the new oil drain plug back on the oil pan and tighten it to 50 Nm torque value.
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes during which you should check the oil drain plug and the oil filter for leaks.
7. Reinstall the engine splash shield.
8. Remove the oil filler plug and pour in 4.5 liters of oil appropriate for the car’s engine.
We have used Castrol 5W-30 oil for the Nissan Qashqai J11, 1.5 Diesel from 2018.
Check the oil level using the dipstick and top up if necessary.
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
Check the oil level again 5-10 minutes after stopping the engine. If necessary, top up with oil.
9. Put the oil filler plug back.
