If you want to find out how to access HIDDEN MENU from the instrument cluster on BMW 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X5, BMW X6, you just follow four simple steps from the video below.

1. Insert the key in and turn on the ignition (don’t start the engine)
Wait for a few seconds until the warning lights disappear.
2. Press and hold down the “trip reset” button in the dash until you see FGSTNR (Fahrgestellnummer – Vehicle identyfication number) on display
Release the button and then make the sum of the last 5 digits of your VIN (in our case is (2+3+1+4+7=17) and keep that number in your mind.
You have to know that 17 is the code to unlock the hidden menu.
3. Press and hold the button until you enter the main menu (01._ _) and the tap the button to go to channel 19._ _
4. Then press again on the button to go to CODE 17 (17 was the VIN number, remember?).
To navigate through hidden menu, you just have to tap the same button. There is a main menu (01.00) and a submenu (01.01…). To return to the hidden main menu you just have to press and hold for two seconds.
On the other channels you can see the fuel level readouts from left & right sensor, the coolant temperature, ambient air temperature, etc.
To exit the hidden menu you just have to turn off the ignition and take out the key.
