How to remove / replace rear door lock module VW Golf Mk4, Jetta, Bora in 25 steps

Necessary tools:

- 10 mm socket

STEP 1: remove the trim for the door pull handle using a plastic tool
STEP 2: remove those two screws from inside door handle with a Philips screwdriver
STEP 3: remove those two screws from the bottom
STEP 4: pull the door panel out
STEP 5: disconnect all the harnesses and cables from the inner door panel
STEP 6: disconnect the wires from the window motor and speaker (our speaker is missing)
STEP 7: remove the three screws from the window motor using a cricket and a Torx T30
Pull the window motor out
STEP 8: pop off the black rubber grommet and lower down the window
When you see a white insert you have to stop
Spreader plug (cel mare) and spreader pin (cel mic)
STEP 9: take the spreader pin out using an 6 mm screw
Be careful not to brake the cable
STEP 10: push the spreader plug inside the door
Raise the window and stick it with duct tape
STEP 11: remove the eight bolts from the inner door panel
STEP 12: take the cables out from the inner door panel
STEP 13: push in those 3 plastic bolts from the bracket that holds the door lock assembly
STEP 14: push in the plastic support cable
STEP 15: disconnect the wires from the door lock module pushing the side cap
STEP 16: take the glass frame out using a flat blade screwdriver
STEP 17: take the rubber cap out and remove the 10 mm bolt from inside
Be careful not to drop the bolt inside the door. You could use some packing tape to put on top of the socket
STEP 18: take plastic cap out and remove the 10 mm bolt
STEP 19: pull the rubber seal out and remove the white piece
To remove it, slide a flat crewdriver behind that white thin plastic, bend it forward and in the same time pull the frame out
STEP 20: take the glass out
STEP 21: pull the guard rail down and take it out
STEP 22: remove the rubber seal and unscrew the bolt using a T20 Torx
Loosen the bolt to take the door lock handle out from the door
STEP 23: take the door lock handle out from the door using a plastic tool
STEP 24: with a plastic tool or a flat blade screwdriver pry out the handle cable or the spring clip
STEP 25: using a M8 Torx remove those two triple square bolts holding the door lock assembly out from the door frame.
