First, you have to know that you”ll replace the switch for VW Golf Mk4, Jetta, Bora, Audi A3, A2, Skoda Octavia 1, Fabia, Seat Leon, Ibiza when you have these following problems:

  • Brake light doesn’t turn on when you step on the brake pedal or may turn on randomely even if you don’t press on the brake pedal
  • Cruise control will be disable
  • On automatic transmission, the gearbox will not allow you to shift out of Park position
  • On diesel cars, you may see a flasing glow plug warning light on instrument cluster

Necessary tools:

Enter the website to find out when you have to replace the rear brake light switch

STEP 1: remove those 3 screws of the driver side under dash panel, using a ratchet and a T20 Torx

STEP 2: take the dash panel out

Now, you can see the switch located in the upper side of the brake pedal

STEP 3: turn clockwise and pull out the switch

On new switch models, you have to turn counterclockwise to remove it.
