BMW 5-Series E60 (2004-2011) – How to Clean the Engine and Change the Oil using Kroon Oil products

In this video tutorial we will show you how to effectively clean the engine and replace the engine oil in a BMW 5-Series E60 2.5 diesel from 2004, using Kroon Oil products.

But first, let’s briefly tell you why we chose to use Kroon Oil products and not another engine oil. Kroon Oil is a company from the Netherlands, founded in 1906. Yes, you heard right, it was founded 118 years ago and has only produced the highest quality lubricants for any engine, whether we are talking about cars, agricultural machines or boats. Kroon Oil has also been present in Motorsport for almost 50 years.

Its products are distributed in over 80 countries and can easily withstand extreme temperatures, whether we are talking about the frozen north of Siberia or the fiery south of Africa. However, the exclusive place where Kroon Oils are produced is the Netherlands, in order to maintain the quality standard of the products.

Now we will move on to engine cleaning, which you should also do on your car once every eighty thousand kilometers or one hundred thousand kilometers. You are probably wondering why the engine needs to be cleaned? Well, because the internal combustion engine, whether diesel or gasoline, will inevitably have certain deposits caused by internal processes carried out at extremely high temperatures. These residues dirty the engine and result in an undesirable effect: the piston rings tend to stick, and this means – oil consumption, loss of compression and loss of power in the long term. In the worst case, these deposits can even lead to engine damage.

But let’s get down to business! For cleaning, we will first use 2 types of oils from Kroon Oil: Flushing Oil Pro and Neutralizer Oil Pro and then we will put the appropriate oil: Helar 5W-30 from Kroon Oil.

We will start first with Flushing Oil Pro oil which has the role of:

– removing sludge and deposits

– increases final compression pressure

– optimizes engine power

– reduces oil consumption

– extends engine life.

As necessary tools and parts we will use:

Loosen the oil filter cap and unscrew the engine plug so that the oil drains faster. Lift the car on the car lift to unscrew the oil drain plug.

Let all the oil drain into a special oil container. Reinstall the oil drain plug  and tighten it to 10 Nm using a torque wrench.

Lower the car and change the oil filter. We remove the oil filter from the housing and replace the old O-ring with a new one. We install the new filter and then install it on the car.

The oil filter cap is tightened to the torque value of 25 Nm , also indicated on the oil filter cap as seen. We also apply a few jets of degreaser spray to clean the oil from the cap.

Then we pour 8.25 liters, which is the amount of oil required for this 2.5 liter diesel engine. We start the engine and let it run for 25-30 minutes during which we will accelerate three times at a maximum speed of 2500 rpm every 5 minutes.

After 30 minutes, we stop the engine and drain the oil. We change the oil filter again with a new one and install it on the car.

This time we pour Neutralizer Oil Pro which is a neutralizing engine oil with an additional package of cleaning additives and is used for each professional washing treatment.

This prevents any residual washing agent from mixing directly with the new engine oil.

This type of oil it effectively removes all remaining contaminated engine oil and pollution residues, so that the new engine oil can start with a 100% clean engine.

You can find Neutralizer Oil Pro from Kroon Oil below in the video description!

Then we proceed as before:

– we start the engine and leave it running for 25-30 minutes, accelerating to 2500 rpm every 5 minutes to clean it better.

After 30 minutes, we stop the engine and wait for all the oil to drain. We remove the oil filter and install a new one. This time we will put in the oil suitable for the BMW 5 Series E60 2.5 diesel model, which in this case is Helar 5W-30 from Kroon Oil.

We chose this Helar 5W-30 oil for the following benefits:

– Fuel economy

– Extended oil change intervals

– Smooth cold start

– Longer service life of exhaust gas treatment systems

– A protective lubricating film at extremely high operating temperatures

– Excellent dispersion and detergency

– Very high resistance to wear, corrosion and foaming.

We pour 8.25 liters of Helar 5W-30 oil from Kroon Oil into the engine and then measure with the oil dipstick. If necessary, we can top up.

Our opinion is that these Kroon oils are effective from the moment we start using them. The engine noise of this BMW 5 Series E60 changed immediately after we poured Helar 5W-30 oil.

Therefore, we recommend using Kroon-Oil products and as the manufacturer says: you will feel the difference from the first key!
