UPGRADE: Replacing the Hood Prop Rod with Telescoping Gas Struts on Mazda CX-5 (2012-2016) in 6 easy steps
Here is a video tutorial on how to replace or change the hood prop rod from the Mazda CX-5 (2012-2016) with telescoping gas struts in only six easy steps.

Required tools:
– 12 mm, 13 mm and 14 mm wrench: https://amzn.to/3SFjybn
– trim tool or clip removal tool: https://amzn.to/3TELDRj
The package includes:
2 x Front Hood Struts Damper (left+right)
4 x Ball joints and 2 nuts
2 x Bonnet Hood Bracket
1 x Bracket with two heads
1. Open the hood and remove those two clips from the insulation pad
2. Install those two ball joints from the package using a 12 mm wrench
You have to use that bracket from the package to tighten the ball joints.
3. Install those two black brackets on that bolt from the front struts using a 14 mm wrench
First, remove that 14 mm nut and install the black bracket on it.
Then install the ball joint using a 13 mm and 12 mm wrench.
4. Use a cutter to cut the seal from the new hood struts
5. Remove the hood support strut retaining clip
6. Install the new hood struts starting from the lower part.
