TUTORIAL: How to remove interior trims on VW Golf Mk5, Rabbit, Jetta (2003 – 2009)

In this video tutorial we will show you how you can remove interior trim on VW Golf Mk5, Rabbit, Jetta (2003 – 2009) if you want to paint it, wrapp it in carbon fiber vinyl, or swapp it out. Or, you can replace the interior aluminium trim with so called a carbon fiber look trim for front doors, rear doors and dashboard.

We are going to replace the interior trim with this carbon fiber look trim. These carbon fiber look trims we have bought from a junkyard, but you can search it also on online spare parts shops.

 

Requierd tools:

– a trim / pry tool

1. Remove the door trim starting from the front to the back
2. Install the carbon fiber trim starting from the left side of the door
3. Remove the dashboard trim from the left side starting from the right
4. Install the carbon fiber trim starting also from the left side
5. Remove the dashboard trim from the right starting with the left side
6. Install the carbon fiber trim starting from the right
7. Remove the trim from the glove box starting from the right
8. Install the carbon fiber trim starting from the left side
9. Remove the passanger door trim starting from the front
10. Install the new carbon fiber trim starting from the right side of the door
11. Remove the rear door trims starting also from the left side of the door (from the front)
12. Install the new carbon fiber trims starting from the right side of the door (from the back).

Before you start, you have to disconnect the negative terminal from your car battery and wait minimum 15 minutes. Then…

 

Required tools:
– a ratchet and a T20 Torx
– a trim tool

1. Pry the dash end cap away from the dash using a trim tool
2. Remove the plastic part on the center section using a trim tool
3. Use the trim tool (or a small screwdriver) to remove the airbag badge
4. Use a T20 Torx to remove the screw behind the badge
5. Remove the A-pillar trim piece using your hands to pull it back.

1: remove the hood seal
2. remove the cowl vent grille lifting it up away from the windshield

There is a plastic track that is attached to the bottom edge of the windshield.

Required tools:
– a T20 Torx
– ratchet
– a trim tool

 

1. remove the plastic frame using a trim tool
2. remove those 4 T20 Torx
3. remove the original radio CD and disconnect the cables and the antenna
4. Connect the cable for antenna
5. Connect the cables and the antenna
6. Put the 4 screws back
7. Install the plastic frame

TUTORIAL: How to remove armrest on VW Golf Mk5, Jetta, Rabbit in 12 simple steps

In this video tutorial we are going to show you how to remove armrest on VW Golf Mk5, Jetta, Rabbit in just 12 simple steps.

Before you start removing the armrest, first you have to remove the center console.

Required tools:
– a ratchet
– a T20 Torx
– a flat blade screwdriver

 

1. Open the cup holder and remove those 2 screws from inside
2. Pry the cup holder out
3. Remove the plastic cover from the armrest
Be careful not brake the
4. Remove those two T20 Torx screws
5. Remove the two T20 screws from both sides
6. Open the armrest and remove the plastic cover from inside
7. Remove the T20 screw
8. Remove the plastic cover from the armrest
9. Remove the next seven screws:
In our case, some screws are missing.
10. Remove the cover from the handbrake and remove the T20 screw
11. Once you have removed the center console, you can remove the final screw
12. Remove the armrest.

To remove windshield wiper motor from a VW Golf Mk5, Rabbit or Jetta, first you have to take out the wiper arms (see tutorial).
Then you just have to follow 7 simple steps.

Necessary tools:
– a flat blade screwdriver
– a 13 mm socket and a ratchet
– a T30 Torx

 

1: remove the hood seal
2. remove the cowl vent grille lifting it up
3. remove the cable
4. remove those two 13 mm screws
5. remove those 2 T30 screws
6. disconnect the cables
7. take the wiper motor out.

TUTORIAL: How to remove the lock tumbler (boot lock cylinder) on VW Golf Mk4 in just 6 simple steps

For those owners of VW Golf Mk4 who decided to replace / remove the lock tumbler or boot lock cylinder, this is how you have to do it.

Neccessary tools:

–          A flat blade screwdriver

–          A Philips screwdriver

–          A ratchet and a T20 Torx

–          A 11 or 12 mm socket

–          A hammer

 

STEP 1: open the trunk and remove those two screws from inside the grab handles

STEP 2: remove the trim panel

STEP 3: disconnect the electrical connector (left side) and the small metal arm that pulls the latch open/shut (right side)

STEP 4: with a T20 Torx remove those three bolts from the boot handle

Use something for not locking the boot.

STEP 5: remove the retaining clip that holds the boot lock in place

Use a flat blade screwdriver and gently pry the clip up.

STEP 6: if it doesn’t come off with a push of a finger, use a hammer and a 11 -12 mm socket to remove the lock tumbler.
