Required tools:
– 8 mm & 10 mm socket: https://amzn.to/3wEAkSJ
– 5 mm Hex Key Wrench: https://amzn.to/3dlVyJ3
– jack and jack stands: https://amzn.to/4aeaeEH
On some BMW models there is a plastic shifter under that gear selector cover (like this) but on this particular model, wich is a 2013 BMW 3 Series F30, it’s not there, so you will have to go through the following steps.
1. Pull the handbrake.
2. Lift the car using a car jack.
Make sure you put the jack under the lifting rubber pad on the left side of the car, under the driver’s door. Use a jack stand when jacking the car in the air.
3. You wiil have to reach under the car to remove that plastic shield (the one from the middle)
You have to use an 8 mm & 10 mm socket to remove those bolts.
Move the plastic shield aside to gain access to the gearbox.
4. Use a 5 mm hex key wrench to tighten that bolt until it press on that metal lever from the gearbox.
Now the car switch into neutral.
5. After you moved the car, make sure to unscrew that bolt in the same position as it was.
