If you have a Smart Fortwo (1998-2007) 0.8 CDI (Diesel) and the glow plug light is staying on for a longer time, that will indicates a loss of power. That means that the glow plug is losing its power efficiency and you have to replace it soon.

Required tools:
– a flat blade screwdriver: https://amzn.to/41CFWXj
– a 10 mm long socket: https://amzn.to/3I8t6sQ
– long nose pliers: https://amzn.to/44VFlmu
– new glow plugs: https://amzn.to/3IaAbsS

1. Open the trunk and take the cover out to have access at the engine cover
2. Remove the engine cover
3. Remove the plugs using a long nose pliers. Just pull it up straight
4. Remove the plastic part using a flat blade screwdriver to have access at the glow plug from the left side
5. Remove the glow plugs using a 10 mm long socket
Make sure that you buy the same glow plug that you have on the car. To be sure, look for the same serial number that is on the glow plug (Our glow plug has the serial number: A6601590001)
6. Install the new glow plugs
7. Install all the parts back in reverse order of removal.
The other glow plugs can be removed much easier without removing that plastic part with cables in it.
